A reflection on the past and hopes for the future 反思过去，展望未来
尊敬的老师们，亲爱的同学们，大家早上好。在这新年伊始，万象更新的日子里，回顾2019，这一年无论是对于国际部还是整个金陵中学河西分校来说都是成功的一年。虽然这所学校相对比较新，只有15年的历史，而国际部更是只成立了5年多的时间，但已经迅速在全国乃至世界的范围内的国际高中里建立了自己的声望。
对于国际部中英项目而言，2019年发生了许多变化。我们的课程有着巨大的改进，值得注意的是，中英项目的A-Level课程的不断发展和完善，使其在中国约800个同类课程中排名第16。通过国际部学生、中方教师和外方教师的共同努力，让我们的学生有机会进入英国乃至世界范围内的的顶尖大学进行学习。
2020年我们也不会停下发展的脚步。在2020年我们计划有更多项目将会被完成，从而使孩子们的素质教育水平得到进一步的提升。
对我自己而言，很开心能跟大家一起度过2019这一年，在过去的这一年中，可爱友好的学生们和专业能力很强的同事们都给我留下了深刻的印象。我为能教出这样的学生而感到自豪，也希望在接下来的一年中可以向我的家乡英国输送更多优秀的学生。不知道大家有没有看到19年最后一缕晚霞，没有看到的话也没有关系，因为我知道你们心中都有各自的灯塔。即使过去的这一年不全是美好的回忆，但也请你不要再回头看了，因为一切都将重新开始。看一看喜庆的人群，望一望绽放的烟花，你依然能重燃信心，迎接那个明年更厉害的自己。
在每一年的开始，我们都会设定各种各样的目标，不知道同学们2019年的目标实现了没有。有时候我们即使设定了目标却总能找到借口不去执行，安慰自己还有明天，只是明天好像永远不会到来，我们也会重复做着相同的事情。但在今年，希望你们能真正从零开始改变自己。让年份不再只是手机日历上的一个数字。奇妙的是，每个新年我们依然还是会有一种仪式感，这种感觉让我们恍若新生，再次攒满力量，重新出发。
2020年祝你们善良，勇敢，优秀，绝不妥协，一生热爱，不留遗憾。
这句祝福送给你们，也送给我自己。
Here we are gathered together to celebrate the end of 2019 and the beginning of a new decade. 2019 has been a successful year for both the students, the international department and indeed, Jinling High School Hexi Campus as a whole. Though this school is relatively new at only 15 years and the international programme even more so at just over 5 years, the school has rapidly established itself as one of the most prestigious and high-quality educational intuitions in both China and around the world.
This year has seen many changes. A significant restructuring of the school and the programmes offered. Of note, the continual development and improvements of the UK international A-Level programme which has now cemented itself as the 16th best of its kind out of approximately 800 similar programmes in China. Through the great efforts of the students, Chinese teachers and international teachers alike, our students have been given the opportunity to enroll in the top universities in the UK and indeed the world.
Each year the school has developed and improved on the last. 2020 will be no exception. During this year there are several projects set for completion that will further facilitate the quality of education provided to the students here.
For myself, it is been a great pleasure to spend 2019 with all of you. In the past year, the lovely and friendly students and professional colleagues have been very impressive. I am proud to have taught such students, and I hope to send more excellent students to my hometown in the coming year. I don't know if you saw the last sunset of 2019, but it doesn't matter if you didn't, because I know you all have your own lighthouses in your heart. Maybe this past year is not all good memories, but please do not look back because everything will be a new start now. Look at the festive crowd, look at the fireworks, you can still rekindle the confidence to meet the next year's more powerful yourself.
At the beginning of each year, we will set various goals. I don't know if your goals for 2019 have been achieved. Sometimes, even though we set goals, we always find an excuse not to carry them out, to comfort ourselves that we still have tomorrow, but tomorrow never seems to come, and we do the same thing over and over again. This time, I hope you can really change yourself from scratch. Although the year is just a number on the calendar and the phone, but the thing is that every New Year we always have a wonderful sense of ritual, this feeling makes us feel like a new life, full of strength again. I wish you kind, brave, excellent, never compromise, love life without regret, I wish you, and I wish myself.
